Connecting, supporting, and equipping
environmental educators in South Carolina.
Our members connect with a statewide network of educators, naturalists, nonprofits, and agencies to grow environmental education in South Carolina. They enjoy discounts on workshops, trainings, and conferences, apply for mini-grants to bring their projects to life, and share ideas and opportunities through our Listserv. They access exclusive resources, take on leadership roles, and even earn recognition for their impact, all while building friendships and partnerships with people who share their love for the environment.
Every year, EEASC recognizes individuals, businesses, and nonprofits that have made significant contributions to environmental education in South Carolina.
The South Carolina Green Step Schools Initiative encourages K-12 schools to take annual steps toward establishing and maintaining model quality sustainability projects. Schools qualify for awards when they work with qualified mentors and submit videos or pictures with detailed captions showing their students learning, doing and teaching others about their projects.
EEASC offers opportunities for our members to grow in their careers as education and environmental professionals. We believe that you never stop being a student, even when you become the teacher. Attend our workshops, trainings, and conference to continue your education.
In 2020, the Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance embarked on a brand new undertaking — a landscape analysis of environmental education efforts in eight southeastern states. This project was the result of a collective desire to gain an enhanced understanding of the environmental education providers in our region who are working towards similar goals.
PEEC—the Palmetto Environmental Education Certification Program – is the first and only professional environmental education certification in S.C. open to both formal and non-formal educators. Throughout the two-year certification, participants sharpen their individual skill set for teaching environmental education, network with fellow educators from across the state, and explore the different regions of the state.
EEASC provides funding to support professional development, student learning opportunities, and service projects. From school gardens to summer camps, we are proud to provide funding to our dedicated members that carry our mission across our state.
Field trips, regional meetups, trainings, and much more! EEASC organizes frequent opportunities for members to immerse themselves in our ever-growing network of education and environmental professionals. Whether you're looking to explore our state, learn how to become a better steward of our environment, or even make friends -- EEASC has you covered.
